Week 11

"Bye bye curb appeal, Hello new water line"
This was a loud messy 4 day project. We now have beautiful new 1 1/2 inch copper piping into the house and better water pressure. The old lead..yes corroded lead valve that connected our house water to the main line on the street has also been replaced...I cringed when I say what our water had been running through.

They dug a 7 foot hole in the road, the sidewalk, and the front of our house

This is what you want to wake up to at 7:30am right?

Week 10 p.s.

Better picture than the night time rainy one. That hole in the wall is hilarious. That was our one and only kitchen window and now it is boarded up with brick and plywood and duck tape :). Yes I get to stare at duck tape and plywood when I'm washing the dishes....in the dark. The top of the mudroom is going to be little sun porch, connected to the master bedroom that hasn't been built yet.

Week 10

Finally!!! Making some progress now. The mud room addition is nearly done-insulation, sheet rock, siding and additional window completed this week. The siding is nice shaker siding, but you can't see it well in these night time pictures. A temporary door had to be put on because the pretty glass one we picked out was ordered in the wrong size :( Of course these old houses don't have standard size ANYTHING- Our contractor is learning that the hard way. Our new cement stairs finally got poured last week. They don't look like much covered in mud and rain. We are planning to move to the rental the first week of December, wish us luck. Oh and next week they are replacing our main water line, so we will be completely with out water for at least 2 days- can't wait for that!

The new addition makes the back of our place look like an abandoned crack house- lovely.

Week 8 part two

Yeay! Our pretty garage door finally arrived, just a few more trim details and the garage is done....minus the paint of course, but we will do that when the main house is done in the spring. The mudroom still needs a lot but they are moving faster now and pouring the new concrete stairs this week and hopefully putting on the siding, extra window we wanted and tile floor.

Colin loves being around the construction and mess- he feels right at home. Here he was inspecting all the ladybugs on the wall

The patio is officially ruined. We thought it could be salvaged but they had to dig a trench down the middle so they could lay a new conduit for electrical lines out the the garage. The current line is too rusted and old to work with...yes that was another surprise and 3 day delay :)

Week 8

We are now moving at a painfully slow pace. The garage is 90% finished and the mudroom is about 60%. There is no paint on the siding or trim, we are going to paint the house, garage, mudroom...etc all at one time.
The weather is finally beautiful this week...where are the workers????????
